Our 1st MV60 Award - The Dave Hanney Award is an annual award that was introduced for the 2024/2025 season.
Dave was an exceptional cross country runner who excelled at both traditional and longer distances. He was a committed club member of Goole Viking Striders for over 30 years including serveral as club chairman.
Dave was the Goole Cross Country Captain and Rep on the EYXC league committee from 2002 to 2014. Throughout this period he was the race director at the Welton race.
Dave also thought up and completed what has become known as the 'Dave Hanney Challenge'. He ran all six of the EYXC league race courses in one go, driving himself from one to the other and taking a little over 10 hours.
Dave was a lovely man that passed away in 2025.
